The sandstone arches, the sweeping lawns, and the iconic Great Court create the perfect backdrop for celebrating years of dedication and achievement. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing a vibrant graduation session on campus — and it reminded us why these moments matter so much.
From proud cap‑and‑gown portraits to candid laughter shared with family and friends, every frame told a story worth preserving. UQ’s blend of heritage architecture and lush greenery gave us endless opportunities to create images that feel both timeless and full of personality. Behind the Lens: A Photographer’s Perspective
For this session, we worked with the Canon Mark III, paired with two of our favourite lenses: the 50mm f/1.2 for beautifully soft, shallow‑depth portraits, and the 70–105 f/4 for versatility and reach around the expansive UQ grounds. Natural light played a huge role in shaping the look of the final images — the campus offers gorgeous pockets of shade and warm highlights that make portraits glow without the need for artificial lighting.
Back in the studio, everything was polished using Adobe’s editing tools to refine colour, enhance clarity, and maintain the natural feel of the day. The goal is always the same: clean, timeless images that still feel true to the moment.
